
Diploma examination
Based on Resolution No. 19/2024 of the Faculty Council of Social Communication and Media at the University of Wrocław dated September 24, 2024, detailed rules regarding diploma theses and examinations for undergraduate and graduate students have been established.
Graduate Studies
- Master’s Thesis Preparation:
- Minimum length: approximately 100,000 characters (including spaces).
- The thesis must include an abstract (up to 4,000 characters), keywords (up to 1,000 characters), and a title page in both Polish and English.
- The thesis must not be a repetition of the bachelor’s thesis.
- The diploma thesis may take the form of a written paper or a project.
- A project-based thesis should include an introduction, a theoretical section, a project section combining theory with practice, and a conclusion describing the applied research methods and tools.
- Diploma Examination:
According to §62, section 6 of the Study Regulations, the master’s thesis defense includes the following components:
a) an oral presentation of the thesis,
b) a discussion of the thesis,
c) an assessment of the student’s knowledge and skills within the field of study, based on the scope of material defined by the Institute.
During the defense, the student is required to present their thesis in an oral format. The presentation must not exceed 5 minutes. Following the presentation, the student will be asked two questions related to the academic discipline in which the thesis is situated. The exam does not cover the full content of all courses taken during the program, nor is it intended to assess the achievement of each individual learning outcome. The examination is conducted orally.
- Additional Requirements:
- The thesis is subject to plagiarism verification.
- Master’s thesis topics are announced on the Institute’s website at least two semesters before graduation.
Rules for Editing Diploma Theses
- The diploma thesis should be in A4 format. The main text should be written in Times New Roman font, size 12 pt, with 1.5 line spacing.
- Margins: top – 2.5 cm, bottom – 2.5 cm, right – 2.5 cm, left – 3.5 cm.
- The main text should be justified (aligned to both left and right margins).
- Chapter titles should be centered and formatted with a larger font size, e.g., 16 pt.
- Paragraphs should be indented by 1.25 cm.
- Pages should be numbered with Arabic numerals at the bottom of the page.
